New hope for Mexico's at-risk children!
-A single mom in Tijuana, with 2 young daughters is forced to leave them at home
while she leaves at 5am and will not be able to get home until 6pm in the evening.
She does this 6 days every week. Years ago, her husband left her for another
woman and she fends for herself and her daughters.
While she goes to work, her daughters get ready for school and
walk to the next colonia to get to school by 7am and will walk home at 1pm.
They quietly walk into their fenced and locked yard and slip into their home
and lock the door while they await their mother's return.
Another single mother, worried about her young
childrens' safety, yet needing to leave for work takes a padlock and locks
her 4 children inside their small home. She hopes they are safer inside than
roaming the streets unattended.
While she is gone, the children attempt to light
a propane burner in an attempt to cook something to eat. The flame gets out
of control. With the door locked on the outside, and the windows barred, what
was meant to protect them prevents their escape to safety. The children perish
in a fire that engulfs the entire structure in a matter of a few minutes.
These two TRUE stories are examples of the many children living in
"at-risk" situations in the colonias of Northern Baja California.
What happens if one of the children is sick and mom cannot work? Will the
employer hold her position or give it to one of the many people waiting outside
the gate for her job?
Do these children get more than one meal every other day?
What protects these young ones from danger to or from school?
What protects them from abuse? Abduction?
Does mom have peace of mind while she leaves her family behind?
What keeps these young children from getting involved with the wrong crowd?
Is it safe for these young ones to try and cook food at home while their
parent is far away at work?
How will there ever be any time to take their kids to church and learn
they have a loving Heavenly Father who longs to give them a hope and a future?
