The Vision of Mi Casa Children's
Home
It all began as one morning ULBC founder Ken LaPoint was studying his Bible
and praying in the fall of 2004. "As I poured out my heart to God about
my desire to give fatherless, family-less children in Mexico a REAL hope and
a future, he poured out his vision". It was a vision of a new facility
to be built in Mexico.
It would be a place these children could always call "home", a place
where there is family, hope and a future. It would be a place where children
would know how special they are and how much they are loved.
As he continued to write in his prayer journal, God showed him this vision
was in the mountains, with room to grow, play, raise food, animals, explore
and places for visitors both Mexicans as well as from the USA to come and make
an “investment” in the lives of needy Mexican children. A place
where there would be dormitories, kitchens, laundry, education center, staff
quarters, a large multipurpose room, guest group dorms, ,
a large, grassy play field, a
barn with animals, vocational training workshop area, restrooms with showers,
an outdoor amphitheater, places to ride bikes, hike, ride a horse.
But most of all it would be a place that GOD himself wants to call "Mi
Casa". A place where HE gets all the glory, honor and praise. A place
where the vision starts, but doesn't end. As children learn, grow up, and catch
the vision, they will be the ones that carry this vision to other parts of
Mexico and quite possibly throughout the world. There are so many, many children
all over the world that have been discarded and forgotten. But each one....each
and every one is precious in the sight of God and deserves to know and understand
the truth that God has a “hope and a future” for them!
Vision of Mi Casa becomes reality!
After many months of continually committing this vision to prayer
and seeking God’s direction, on July 23, 2006, ULBC CasaBuilders was
given a beautiful 5-acre parcel in the middle of a large rancho at the base
of the mountains near Tecate! In a peaceful, hillside setting just
west of town is our secluded location that's perfect for the MI CASA Children’s
Home!
We had been moving ahead attempting to raise funds to buy another parcel of
land, but God gave us the perfect home without pulling a peso out of our pockets!
Plans are drawn and work has begun !
"Where God guides, God provides". The vision of Mi Casa has truly turned
into reality. In the Fall of 2006, all of the site grading was finished, in spring
of 2007 the first building had been started.
